Television presenter Rona Dougall will welcome supporters of The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice on Saturday 30 September to celebrate the charity’s Annual Ball as part of its 40th year anniversary.
The Ball is being held for the first time in the stunning Boutrich Castle on the banks of Loch Lomond.
As part of the fundraising for the night, major British designers have pledged their support for Glasgow’s Hospice by donating exclusive pieces to the night’s grand auction. Well-known names; Vivenne Westwood, Charles Jeffrey Loverboy and William Chambers are generously supporting the Ball in the hopes of raising as much vital funds for the hospice as possible.
Glaswegian designer Charles Jeffery said, “Gifting a dress from my archive to The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice is more than just a donation; it’s a testament to the enduring love, care and hope that they represent. I am honoured to contribute to such a noble cause".
Guests on the night will hear from hospice patient, 56-year-old Jean McCauley who is living with the life-limiting illness Multiple Myeloma, a form of bone cancer. Jean says: “When I was referred to the hospice, I really didn’t know what to expect, as my emotions were all over the place. I'm happy to say that the hospice has been a lifeline to me. I attend the Living Well Hub once or twice a week. It's a wonderful place where you meet patients in similar situations to yourself. The hospice helps you to live with a life limiting illness in a much more positive way and I will always be grateful for their support.”
It costs more than £5million to operate the hospice, situated in Bellahouston Park in the south of the city. With only £2million being provided through statutory funding, the hospice must fundraise more than £3million each year in order to continue providing free care to 1200 new patients and their families.

We are very grateful to them and to our wonderful supporters for helping to make our 40th anniversary Ball such a special occasion.”
