The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice is a well-established charity, we have recently moved in our new purpose built home located within Bellahouston Park.  The Hospice provides specialist palliative care for people with a life-limiting and progressive illnesses and provides support for their families and carers. 

Our retail team provide financial provision to the Hospice through our network of 17 charity shops throughout the Glasgow area. Some of these shops sell furniture and this role will predominantly involve the uplift and delivery of furniture between donors, our shops and customers. Key duties will include:

• Uplift and delivery of furniture using the hospice van ensuring all stock is handled and transported safely and without damage
• Contacting customers and donors via phone and email to arrange deliveries and collections
• Route planning to ensure efficient use of the van and time
• Maintaining an outlook diary of deliveries and collections,
• Uplift and delivery of other stock for the shops as and when required
• Disposal of unsellable items at recycling centres
• Keep van clean and tidy at all times and ensure all driver checks are completed accordingly
• Reporting and actioning van maintenance and repair issues
• As you are representing the hospice, we expect excellent customer service at all times
• Occasional weekend work may be required

Candidates must hold a current vehicle licence sufficient to permit them to drive a large Luton-sized vehicle, and to be capable of moderate to heavy lifting and driving in all weathers and road conditions.  Previous multi-drop van delivery experience, preferably in a charity environment, would be beneficial. The van would be stored at the Hospice or at our distribution centre (city centre) so ideally the candidate would have their own means of travel to these locations.
