Band 5 Registered Nurse for Young Adult Respite Service

Hours: 37.5hrs 

Short break stay service will be operate over 24 hours.  

Salary: £28,635 to £36,106 + 12.5% shift allowances 

 The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice is a well-established charity located within Bellahouston Park. The Hospice provides specialist palliative care for people aged 16 and older living with life-limiting and progressive illnesses as well as providing support for patients’ families and carers. 

 At the hospice we have an exciting new opportunity for band 5 bank Registered Nurses (Adult & Learning Disabilities Nurses) to support young adults within the hospice who are living with a life limiting, progressive illness with complex health care needs. The band 5 registered nurse forms part of our developing Young Adult Service which is a new, exciting, innovative, and a National award-winning model of care at the forefront of young adult palliative care in Scotland. 

The young adult service strives to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of young adults, their families and carers, offering support with the practical implications of a life-limiting illness. Staff provide the highest standard of patient centred care, while promoting choice, dignity, self-esteem and an enhanced quality of life. 

The Respite Service offers day respite and short break stays. This allows young adults to take time out of their routine to socialise have fun through activities while providing vital respite for their families/carers.   

As part of our dedicated team, you will get the opportunity to get to know the young adult and what is important to them and their family and carers. This will help the young adult to feel supported, participate in activities, achieve their goals, have fun and feel safe within the hospice environment. 

This post holder will have:  

Care, passion, and compassion is fundamental to hospice care and a key part of this role.  

An integral part is also being able to connect with young adults, their families, and carers.  

Essential to application is being a Registered Practitioner (health or social care) with a minimum of 2 years post registration experience working within health and/or social care with evidence of working with young adults and families living with a life limiting illness.  

Desirable experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team with evidence or experience of working within a learning disability environment.
