Working for the Hospice
Dedicated staff are the Hospice's greatest asset in its mission to provide consistently high standards of patient and family care. The Hospice invests time and effort in maintaining a culture that encourages staff to develop their skills and strive to continually achieve high standards of service. Some of the benefits of working for the Hospice are:
-
The opportunity to match your career to a great cause
-
Managers who will support you actively, helping you to perform to your very best
-
Opportunities to learn and develop in your job
-
Working in a culture which thrives on teamwork
-
Fair pay and benefits to reward you for your contribution
Above all, you'll always know that as you develop your career with the Hospice you'll also be making a difference to our patients and families who remain firmly at the centre of all that we do.
Our Clinical Team
The Hospice offers excellent careers in palliative care, covering a range of medical, nursing and multi-professional disciplines. This includes doctors, clinical nurse specialists, registered nurses, healthcare assistants, allied health professionals and a family support team.
Our clinical staff work in various locations within the Hospice and out in the community, including the Laurieston Nurses, a 14-bed in-patient unit, day services and out patient clinics.
Non-Clinical Team
In addition to clinical roles our team is made up of a wide variety of different disciplines from administrative staff, fundraisers, finance and information technology as well as support staff, including cooks, housekeepers and porters. Their practical support keeps the Hospice running smoothly and allows us to do what we do best - care for patients.

Although not actively involved in care, non-clinical staff have frequent patient contact. That's why every member of staff is handpicked, selected for their personal attributes as much as their skills and abilities.
Every individual is committed to playing their own part in making the Hospice the best it can be. They're also a vital ingredient in giving the Hospice its relaxed, non-institutional atmosphere.
Join our team!
The Hospice recognises its staff as fundamental to the quality of care provided to patients. A strategic and professional approach to recruitment processes enables the Hospice to attract and appoint staff with the necessary skills and attributes to fulfil its strategic aims and support its core values.
All vacancies that come up at the Hospice are advertised on our website along with other relevant media. Our aim is to circulate our vacancies widely, attracting a range of applications, ensuring we attract the right person for the job.
The Hospice is committed to promoting equality and diversity in employment. We welcome applications from women and men of any ethnic group, religious belief, marital status and sexual orientation, or who have disabilities. Our premises have wheelchair access and are a smoke-free zone.
For successful applicants the Hospice carries out a number of selection checks. These include 2 references, proof of qualifications / registration, occupational health checks and for appropriate posts an enhanced level disclosure check.
