Majabeen Ali - Cultural Liaison Officer

Majabeen works in an outreach capacity assisting with the Hospice's Widening Access Project, led by senior nurse Barbara Love. One of the aims of the forward-thinking project is to bring greater awareness of the palliative care service to the 30,000 people living in minority ethnic communities on Glasgow's South side.
For Majabeen the project offers her a chance to make a difference in her own community and to also give something back to the Hospice for the care they offered to her mother-in-law.
As she says: "I am delighted to be able to do my bit to contribute to the Hospice's Widening Access Project by acting as a mediator and helping with any language and cultural hurdles.
"I am also pleased that I am able to make a concrete contribution to spreading the word within our communities so that people may access the same level of care that my mother-in-law received during her final months of life.
"The Hospice gave so much to our family and offered so much support. I know that others will benefit greatly from the work that I am doing."
