Dr Claire Shott - Speciality Doctor

Claire has been at the Hospice since January 2011. She began her career as a GP before moving on to specialise in palliative care. She works mainly in the in-patient unit as part of the multidisciplinary team looking after patients and their families.

"As part of the medical team, we take a holistic approach to manage physical symptoms, such as pain, nausea, shortness of breath and also address psychological, social and spiritual issues.

"GPs and district nurses can phone for advice at any time during the day or night and within the Hospice I offer support to the community nurse specialists and day services.

"I really enjoy working with patients and their families to support them through a difficult time in their lives. I find it rewarding to be able to spend time with people and make a difference."
