How to access our services
Hospice referrals must be made in the first instance by a healthcare professional, usually either your GP or hospital consultant - these are the people who will have the best overall picture of your situation. We do not take self referrals but, importantly, you cannot be referred to us unless your doctor has discussed it with you and you have agreed. Another way you remain in control!
Not every patient with a life-limiting disease wants or needs Hospice care. However, if you are in pain or other physical distress - or if you or your carer have physical, emotional, social or spiritual needs that aren't being met by your existing support networks, do talk to your doctor about the Hospice.
At present most of our patients have cancer and this is obviously our area of greatest expertise. However, there is currently a move towards offering palliative care to patients with other, non-malignant diseases - for example, neurological disorders such as motor neurone disease, and progressive respiratory and heart disease.
This is once again a decision for your GP or hospital consultant, who will be best placed to determine which facilities in Glasgow are available to help you.
