Who we help
Most of our patients have a diagnosis of incurable cancer, our primary area of expertise, although we occasionally treat other patients with non malignant progressive illnesses.
Patients are referred to us at different stages of their illness. This could be from the point of diagnosis onwards. Referrals are made to the Hospice from GPs and hospital consultants, usually when complex symptoms are disrupting their quality of life. Those symptoms may be physical, psychological or spiritual. It is at this point that specialist palliative care can make a real difference.
Not everybody needs Hospice care Hospice referrals are not automatic - some people manage without specialist help. However, if you feel you would benefit, don't suffer in silence - share your concerns with your GP or hospital consultant.
