Volunteers

The Hospice relies heavily on the support of our volunteers and we are always looking for more people to help us out. Volunteers are integral to the standard of care services provided by the Hospice and complement and enhance care services provided by our paid staff.

It is the belief of the Hospice that at the same time as contributing to the care provided by the Hospice, volunteering can contribute to raising individual self-esteem and self-confidence as well as to the regeneration of local communities and to society as a whole.

Investors in People
The Hospice is about people looking after people. That's why, in the absence of a monetary reward, we need to be able to value and develop our volunteers - and to continue showing our appreciation to them. In March 2003, our Volunteer Services Department was recognised as an Investor in People. IIP gives us a framework for identifying and meeting the needs of all our volunteers.
