Education

Our in-house education and training programme is central to the development of our staff and volunteers. The development of our workforce is key to our success as a specialist unit, as we endeavour to give the best care, and provide the best service possible.

We also have a commitment to provide educational programmes for other professionals within the Greater Glasgow and Clyde environment through one off study days, links with universities and by offering placements to a variety of staff.

In the Hospice

For staff employed by the Hospice there are many opportunities to continue their professional development, from a robust mentorship programme to support in their broader studies. Everyone has responsibility for their own learning - but we provide many opportunities and support to make this achievable. We support secondments to other clinical areas and also within the hospice, and attendance at conferences and courses is encouraged.

Our commitment to lifelong learning extends to non-clinical staff and volunteers, who receive job-specific training as well as personal development in areas such as communication skills.

Beyond the Hospice

As a specialist palliative care unit we are committed to sharing our expertise with other healthcare professionals. This may mean coming to us for a specific training event, or perhaps one of our staff might come and speak to an external audience. We are also involved in both under- and post-graduate study for many professional groups and have a busy programme of students here on placement.  See the training section for more details.
