Strictly 2011 Contestants
Our 2011 Contestants

Over 500 guests joined us for a truly sparkling evening of dance entertainment at (A LITTLE LESS) Strictly Come Dancing 2011 at the five star Hilton Glasgow.

Our celebrity contestants and their dance professional partners had put in some seriously tough training and our judging panel were in for some tough decisions. Fortunately, they were more than qualified to offer their expert opinions, being led by John Comrie, Vice President of the British Association Teachers of Dance, who was joined by Ian Waite, from the BBC Strictly show, presenter Kaye Adams and former contestant John Amabile.

Our dancers for the evening featured some well known personalities from the world of Scottish celebrity and business; (pictured from left to right) Clyde 1s Romeo, event rider Nicola Malcolm, football hero Gordon Smith, Kathleen McDermott Carberry,  and Hilton Area Manager and Hospice Ambassador, Craig Gardner (whose fabulous dance skills can be seen by clicking here!) and Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise Lena Wilson.

After some outstanding performances all round in the first heat, it was Nicola Malcolm and partner Bobby Cranston dancing the Jive and Kathleen McDermott-Carberry and partner Chris Hannah dancing the American Smooth who went through to our 'dance off'.

Both couples demonstrated fabulous skill and choreography, but it was Kathleen and Chris who were crowned champions with their war-time romance themed routine, which incorporated both foxtrot and jive styles.

Next up, our guests were treated to a series of dances BBC's Strictly Come Dancing stars Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite, who truly wowed us all with their incredible ballroom moves.

Not wanting to be left out, the Hospice fundraising team demonstrated their newly acquired Cha Cha skills and the fundraising total of £55,000 really did put a true spring in their step!

Many people helped make this evening such a great success and we would like to extend a huge thank you to all of them.

Next year's date is already in the diary for Saturday 17th March, so get in touch with Ashley by emailing ashley.kilgour@ppwh.org.uk to reserve your tickets.
