Southside Friends Reach Milestone

The Southside Friends of the Hospice raised a brilliant £2,650 at their latest coffee morning at Giffnock Bowling Club. An achievement in its own right, it brings the overall total raised by these mornings to a tremendous £31,385!
Attended by around 300 people, the popular event has become a highlight of the community calendar, with stalls, tombolas and home-baking.
Chairperson Eileen Dunn and her sisters, Marilyn and Elaine, first became involved with the Hospice after their dad started using the day unit. They formed the group in 1999 with just eight people and have never looked back.
In June they received the well deserved title of Evening Times Community Team Champions for South East Glasgow. This automatically includes them in the list of nominees for the grand final in December, so watch this space!
We'd like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved in the group for their hard work and commitment, which is a true inspiration to us all!
