Light up a Life
31 Dec 2011
Many thanks to everyone who has already taken part in this year's Light up a Life appeal, which will continue until the New Year.

Scottish broadcaster and journalist Sally Magnusson (left) helped launch the appeal at the beginning of November in memory of her father Magnus Magnusson. She said, "I think he would have been thrilled to think that by remembering him, those that loved him are contributing to the hospice and the wonderful work they do enabling people to make the most of living"

Michelle Mone (right), creator of Ultimo lingerie, also lent her support to the first ever Light up a Life carol concert, which took place in the beautiful surroundings of St Andrew's Cathedral on Sunday 4th December.

Following the concert, over 500 guests were invited over the Clyde to see the Hospice being lit up with hundreds of lights; each one shining in memory of someone special.

Rona Williamson, from Halfway, was joined by her five children and thirteen grandchildren as she switched on the lights in memory of her late husband, Sandy Williamson, who passed away in the Hospice last year.
Sandy's daughter, Nicola Ross, said "Lighting a light is a lovely way to remember him. It keeps him alive for us."
More photos of the concert and the lighting of the Hospice can be seen on our Facebook page.
