Christmas at the Hospice

21 Dec 2011

Over the past month we've been getting into the swing of the festive season and our patients have been enjoying a variety of Christmas entertainment.

Children from Kelvinside Kindergarten

Most recently, we welcomed 13 children from Kelvinside Kindergarten to our day unit. They all looked absolutely adorable in their costumes as they sang to the assembled crowd.

The festive events began back on Monday 5th December, when patients were delighted to listen to musical numbers performed by the brilliant 'Song Machine' as part of Music in Hospitals. Then later that week we were lucky enough to be joined by some pitch-perfect pupils from Spittal Primary.

Not to be outdone at anything, our fundraising team decided to give carol singing their best shot the following week but were outclassed by pupils from Haghill Primary, who sang all the usual Christmas favourites.

Finally, Charlie Kirkpatrick and John Graham upped the tempo on Friday 16th December by playing an assortment of ceilidh music on guitar and accordion and it didn't take very long before everyone was up and dancing!

On behalf of the patients, volunteers and staff here at the Hospice, thank you to all the entertainers who came along this month. Patients Margaret and Christine said "we've thoroughly enjoyed them all - they've all been really, really good".

From everyone at the Hospice, we'd also like to wish all our supporters a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
