Bikes and Boats...

Five Ferries cyclists and ferry

22 eager cyclists set their alarms early to catch the first ferry of the day from Ardrossan to Brodick to roll out for the first annual Five Ferries Challenge.

We were delighted to have so many 'on board' for the challenge, which involved cycling 51 miles over four cycling legs, which were joined together by five ferry trips. Fortunately, the weather was on our side and we even caught a glimpse of the sun!

Riders were able to stop off at Tarbert for a well-earned lunch very kindly provided free of charge by Lite Bites. Support was provided throughout the route by RT Cycles and St Andrew's Ambulance, making sure that everybody stayed on track.

After some pretty gruelling hills, the finish line at Wemyss Bay was a very welcome sight. Sponsorship money is still coming in and we'll update you with the total when it's available, but we do know that our pedallers earnt every penny.

Many thanks Paul Grant and John Boal for their support in creating and running the challenge, Shields Autoparks for the support car and to everyone involved in making the first Five Ferries challenge a really enjoyable and memorable day.
