Hospice cheques into former Clydesdale Branch
01 Nov 2010

Work is now underway to convert the former Laurieston branch of the Clydesdale Bank which sits on the corner of the Hospice's building. The bank's Executive Director and Hospice Ambassador David Thorburn recently paid us a visit to see how things were progressing.
There is another very welcome link with the bank as through our national Help the Hospices partnership, the bank has raised an incredible £90,000 for us in the last three years and helped us to start work on this crucial extension. In addition to providing over 167 days of volunteering time, Glasgow offices of the branch have worked extremely hard to support us and have raised the largest amount of money for us out of all the Hospices in the UK - a tremendous achievement!
Once opened, the building will house the Hospice's family support unit including an area specifically designed to accommodate our Children's bereavement programme. It will also include a purpose built occupational therapy and physiotherapy suite as well as flexible meeting spaces which will hold bereavement counselling, drop in clinics and a multi-faith facility. The conversion is one of a number of current initiatives aimed at furthering the care that we are able to offer to patients and families suffering from life-limiting and terminal illnesses when they need it most.
