Visiting
The Hospice encourages visiting at any time of the day although there may be occasions when visitors will be asked to wait while the nurses and doctors are with patients. Families and friends can telephone the ward at any time of the day or night. The use of personal mobile phones is permitted if required.
Meals and Refreshments
Our catering team provides home made traditional food for patients, staff and visitors. All special dietary requirements can be met. Café Amar provides teas, coffees and light snacks between 9.30am and 7pm. Hot drinks and vending machines are available 24 hours.
Parking/Public Transport
The Hospice has a small car park to the rear of the building. When the car park is full parking is available within the immediate vicinity of the Hospice in accordance with parking regulations alternatively city car parks are nearby. We are close to all public transport links including Glasgow Central station, St. Enoch and Bridge Street Subways, and bus stations.
Smoking Policy
There is a no smoking policy within the Hospice for all visitors, staff and volunteers, however, a comfortable designated smoking room is provided for patients.
Security
For security purposes visitors are asked to report to the reception area on arrival and departure. For the safety of patients, visitors, staff and volunteers CCTV is operated internal and externally
The fire alarm is tested every Wednesday at 11am on a weekly basis and in the event of a fire the Hospice staff will advise all on the evacuation plan.
To maintain the peace and dignity of the environment all visitors should be respectful at all times towards the staff and volunteers.
Infection Control
Every care is taken to protect patients from contracting preventable infections. Visitors are encouraged to use the alcohol gel provided at reception and at all entrances before entering clinical areas. All staff adhere to the infection control policy in line with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
Confidentiality
The confidentiality of patient information is of paramount concern to the Hospice. We comply fully with data protection legislation and medical confidentiality guidelines.
The Hospice recognises that visitors and family members wish to be informed of a patient's progress; however, patients' wishes are respected before this information is shared and patient confidentiality is always maintained.
